Welcome to my blog!
A little about who I am and how I got here.
My name is Sally. I began my photography venture in 2012. I purchased my very first DSLR with 2 it lenses and began snapping away at pretty much anything I could. I started doing pieces of work for my friends and family in order to learn as much as I could and have hands on experience. Somewhere in the mix of all this I began working full time, moved home and then had 2 children so my dream of being a photographer began to feel like it would never come true.
My passion for photography never wavered, it is always something I have loved to do and continue to do. In 2019, I began to try and make my dream a reality. I never thought about how hard it would be to find the time to market, do sessions and learn what I needed to to make my business work especially with only one of my children attending school I do salute those of you parents who work from home whilst caring for you children. IT’S HARD WORK! I continued to do my best but I found it very tricky. I had booked in quite a few sessions and weddings which I absolutely loved doing!
Fast foward to 2020. I had so many plans! Both my children were at school and I felt like I finally had the time to get my head down and invest the time needed to make my business a success. And then the pandemic happened. I was absolutely gutted! I had planned to distribute leaflets, plan model calls and do everything I could to get my name out there but unfortunately we were all told the famous words of “YOU MUST STAY AT HOME”. Again I was back at home with my 2 children, not able to do any photography work for clients just like when they were younger. Keeping them entertained became a full time job! Throughout the year, lockdown was lifted and then reinstated and then lifted again. I am very fortunate to have been able to book in some sessions at times that lockdown was lifted.
2020 was really my year to make my photography business a success and in a way I succeeded. I booked the most amount of sessions I’ve ever had but it was definitely nowhere near as many as I wanted to do. Throughout lockdown, I done as much training and practice at home as I could to fine tune my photography, editing and marketing skills. I still have a long way to go in some of it but I have learned so much the last few months and my work has never looked so good!
So here I am in 2021, continuing to try and make this dream a reality. I must say thank you to all of you who have continued to help support me. Whether it be through sharing, commenting, recommending or using my services. You all play a huge important part in making this business a success.
